A Tale of Two Deals

My first online business efforts were in 1995. (They tell me that makes me an old-timer.)

One was a direct response campaign for a national company that had a lot of competition. It did okay, but it wasn’t anything to get excited about. These days we’d call it an affiliate deal, with a mediocre payout and conversion rate.

Like I said: no big deal, but it was profitable. Then the company dropped their online business.

*Poof* - So much for that income stream.

Ever been there?

The other deal I was working on at the same time was different. It was local. I set it up myself, in a conversation that took less than 10 minutes. Creating the web page and the form to promote it took less than an evening.

That one didn’t generate a lot of sales every day either, but the conversion rate was high and the payout was $75 per sale. And it took just about no time at all, once it was set up.

That one worked out very well, but the best part wasn’t the money. It was knowing that if that deal went away, I could easily create more just like it. The formula is simple, and the pitch is as close to a no-pressure, no-brainer deal as you can offer a business. It’s a true “No Lose” proposition.

When I tell that story today, I hear the same thing from almost everyone: “That was okay for 1995, but competition now would make it a lot harder!”

Maybe. If you try and do it like everyone else does, it probably would be tough. But do it with a local audience, and it’s as easy to make that deal work as it ever was.

That’s one of the things I’d like to show you.

It’s one of the reasons I believe that having a local component to your business, even if you focus primarily on global niches or larger markets, is a must these days.

November 30th, 2008…the STSE2 review…

Almost THREE months after I originally ordered this product…I have finally read my issue of The Net Effect (the second issue in the series)…and watched Stomping The Search Engines 2 (STSE2).

In their usual fashion, Stompernet produces VERY high quality video materials…hands down the best in Internet Marketing in my opinion.  So, I had no issues watching the video at all, in fact, I would go so far to say that the video quality sets the standard for video products of any kind.

As for the content, there is a TON in quantity…and my take is this course would be best suited for the beginner - high intermediate Internet Marketer…not for the advanced user.

And, that being said, this course IN NO WAY would be worth $497.00 in value that was claimed in the STSE2 video sales page.  At best, it’s a solid $197.00 investment…if you were to buy it.

The difference in value is in NO way from the quality of the product, but rather in the content delivered per dollar…and when someone “hypes” up the product as attaining a certain value…I hold them to it.

You may feel differently…this is just my opinion.

Now, onto The Net Effect Journal.

Once again, Stompernet delivers the highest quality print magazine/newsletter product in Internet Marketing…hands down.  The covers are SOLID, and the pages are very high quality…overall the “feel” of this issue made the initial impression very good.  Plus, it had a good number of pages of content at 45.

And…because this is a magazine, I don’t expect it to deliver “revelations” in the content.  In my opinion, The Net Effect over delivered on content value. I think they charge $40 a month, and I would say this is the ONLY print magazine worth that much.

I especially like the “action-plan” they write in the back of the issue…showing you step by step how to put the issue to use.

Excellent job on The Net Effect Stompernet

So, for a numerical rating of each…

Stomping The Search Engines 2 (STSE2) = 7.1 out of 10 possible stars overall…with the strength being the product quality, and main weakness being “hyped” value vs. actual delivered value.

The Net Effect Journal print magazine = 9.5 out of 10 possible stars overall…with the strength being content delivered and the only possible weakness being the number of pages (I didn’t want to put it down, but had to when it ran out of pages LOL).

Dan is one of Matt’s downline representatives. He’s ordered his own follow up autoresponder through Matt. Since Matt is using Auto Message Setup, Dan’s account came pre-packaged with Matt’s marketing messages. Dan personalized those messages to himself by answering a few questions in his Online Control Panel. Now Dan is sending his own personalized version of Matt’s messages to his customers! All of the basic content is Matt’s, but Dan’s contact information is on the letters. Here is the autoresponse that Dan sends to his potential customers:

This report also lives up to the claim, “Get Your First Copywriting Clients In 14 Days Or Less”.  If you follow the instructions within the report, you will gain clients rather quickly in the beginning.

The bad: You might be left with a feeling of “why isn’t there more?” after reading the report.  It’s not because Ryan intentionally left anything out, but the subject of marketing a copywriting business is so HUGE, that Ryan does need to back this report up with a full home study course in my opinion.

The ugly: This report is not for seasoned veterans of the copywriting trade.  The information presented is solid, but basic.  If you are a seasoned veteran, you already have a book of clients, and have no need for this report any how.

Bottom line, if you are a budding copywriter, or one that is “starving” for clients, this ebook is for you.  I give it a high recommendation.

This product has it’s good internet business information, then it also kind of fluffy in it’s delivery.

You really have to search within the 90 - plus page main manual, and the “Lost Chapters” that come with it, to find the solid golden nuggets of information that will help you succeed in making money online.

Niche domination is the focus of this product, along with creating a proper marketing funnel.

The package you receive includes videos, pdf files, and links to some bonus material.

One of the negatives about Mafioso Marketing Plus is the “attitude” that is conveyed while trying to make the points about marketing and making money online.  This “attitude” might resonate with some, but may actually be a turn off for others.  If you do invest in this product, and don’t like an “I’m greater than you” type of feel in writing, just try to absorb the information within.

This is one of the first lower ratings I have issued, so I will let you know what happens here…

Any product I review that receives lower than a 6-star rating will go into a “not-recommended” folder for this site.  This product received a 6.3 rating, so it barely made the cut.

What does that mean?
